Ales Cernivec

Ales Cernivec

MSc. Ales Cernivec, CSO at XLAB d.o.o. (XLAB Research), has been working as a researcher and a project manager for the last 10 years. Currently, as a CSO at XLAB, his main focus are activities related to company’s implementation of ISO 27001 and company-wide GDPR compliance. In the last couple of years, he has been involved in plethora of EU and commercial research and innovation projects related to cyber security, cloud computing and e-governance.

Moreover, he has been XLAB’s team lead in the most recent FP7 and H2020 projects related to cyber security: most current projects are FORTIKA (Cyber Security Accelerator for trusted SMEs IT Ecosystem) and WISER (Wide-Impact cyber security risk framework). He has been leading implementation of Slovenian interoperability portal (nio.gov.si) and contributed to Slovenian open data portal (podatki.gov.si).

His primary interest is cyber security, his interests encompass number of security-related problems: mobile security, federated identity management, authentication and authorization frameworks, data sharing and safeguard privacy in the context of mass data handling. Moreover, he has a good insight into cloud related technologies (hypervisors, IaaS frameworks such as OpenStack and OpenNebula) due to deployments of the infrastructures for commercial clients.
